Photography
I earned by my B.A. in photographic illustration from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara and have worked as a freelance and staff photojournalist and wedding and commercial photographer. The images in the header of this website were shot with a succession of digital cameras I’ve owned over the years. I currently shoot with a Nikon D300 and a single lens: the Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro. Yes, that’s a mouthful, but it’s one awesome collection of glass elements. I love this lens because I can capture just about any image without having to carry around a boatload of gear. I have also developed an affinity for shooting with the iPhone and processing images with a variety of iPhone apps.
The images in the header of this website, along with many others, can be viewed and purchased at my SmugMug website. They have an excellent user interface that lets you crop the photos and see how they will look on t-shirts, coffee mugs and other items–all before you click “purchase.” A collection of unedited images is also available for viewing at my Picasa and Photoshop websites (a sample of iPhone images stored at photoshop.com is below). If you see an image there that you like, send me a message and I’ll put it on SmugMug so you can order it.
I also offer custom prints up to 13″x19″ and can print a panorama 8 inches tall by up to 32 feet wide using roll paper. Custom prints are made with an Epson Stylus Photo R1900 printer using Epson Ultrachrome 7-color inks.
